Welcome to Mphutungwane

Lest we forget, we must give thanks

The Soccer World Cup has come and gone.  It was a beautiful event which was enjoyed by the whole world.  We prayed and pleaded for a peaceful and enjoyable festival of football, which we were kindly granted by all who look after us on the continent.  Now we need to go back and give thanks for the opportunity granted and the environment which allowed us to take part.

Ask and it shall be given.  Remember to go back & give thanks!

Just a thought or rather a message from beyond?

E-mail Print PDF
I often hear it said that we create our own reality, that if you think something bad is going to happen it does.  It is also said that if you think positive thoughts and focus on the good, then only this good will happen. I disagree on a number of level with this especially with the belief that we manifest what we think.

Before I discuss this from an African Spiritual perspective, I have to say that I can't imagine that someone would want to manifest suffering in their lives! Think only of the many children who face starvation on a daily basis, who would want to manifest this for themselves.

Seeing things as they are!

The World Cup is well and truly under way right now. Those of us with an interest continue to watch these final first round matches with interest.  For me they present an opportunity to study peoples reactions to various dissappointments that they have to face.  Its interesting the way we all seem to focus on what could have been instead of what actually is.  This is a problem that extends to our lives meaning that we cannot plan for the future properly because we use our past wishes and regrets as the basis for the plan.  What do I mean by this?

Responsibility towards Amathwasa

E-mail Print PDF
I hear so many horror stories from those who have tried to go through the process of ukuthwasa that I thought it important to start a conversation about this very sacred process that we have to go through.  I have my own horror story not from the perspective of ithwasa (for me I was in a carrying environment which still supports me today), but rather as an iNyanga with amathwasa.  Two of my thwasa's left while I was away at a funeral in KZN.  I struggled with this for a while as it had never happened to me before. For me the betrayal I felt was hightened by the negative comments that one of the women in particular started making.  Even now, when we talk about it at home, I always remind them of a song sung by the late Brenda Fassie, which had the words, "Angeke um confirm umuntu uya changa!"- or something to that effect.

Bones and Tarot- Who can use it?

E-mail Print PDF

I get a lot of questions about the use of Tarot cards, crystals, etc by African Healers and whether this is ok or not.  Firstly, we need to understand that the ways of amaDlozi are inclusive.  Also, unless you know your full family history, you cannot exclude the fact that there may be different cultures who are merged into the making of you and thus your gift will reflect this.  This means they will manifest in different ways and abilities. Even if you are only exposed to one aspect, these other parts of you are also awakened.
