Before I discuss this from an African Spiritual perspective, I have to say that I can't imagine that someone would want to manifest suffering in their lives! Think only of the many children who face starvation on a daily basis, who would want to manifest this for themselves.
In Africa, the thoughts which come to pass are not a manifestation but rather they are the premonition and warning that we each have through our connection to amaDlozi. It is not that you manifested that accident because you were thinking about it all the time, someone was trying to tell you to be careful as there is an accident going to happen.
In the west they refer to manifestation, we in Africa talk about amaDlozi. It is Idlozi that will warn of impending doom as well as coming good fortune and not just your imagination. So instead of telling someone to stop thinking negatively and focus on positive thoughts only (I'm not even sure how you stop yourself from thinking something), we would look into your life to see where the danger is coming from and advise on preventative measures to stop the accident happening as you are being told/shown it is going to happen.
So never dismiss your thoughts, but rather follow them to their roots in order to be able to see exactly what the problem is before you see the situation happen as you have seen.
African healing requires that you look closely at every thing that happens in your life. This makes dreams and instinctive feelings very important communication tools which we each need to know how to decipher. The warnings that we receive through dreams and feelings are an important part of you and the guidance shown in your life by amaDlozi. This communication is not limited to those who are iZangoma but is an ability gifted to all who walk the earth.
Philani.
